Farm Rich Takes a Ride to Support 2015 Velosano ‘Bike to Cure’
July 14, 2015
St. Simons Island, Ga. (July 14, 2015) – On Saturday July 18, the Farm Rich green colors will be seen racing through the streets of Cleveland, Ohio to support VeloSano “Bike to Cure”. Now in its second year, VeloSano is a fundraising cycling event in which riders commit to raise a predetermined dollar amount to support cancer research at Cleveland Clinic. Farm Rich is a division of Rich Products Corporation of Buffalo, New York.
This year, Farm Rich (one of the country’s largest frozen snacks and appetizer brands), along with its parent company Rich Products, will be well represented during the two-day ride with a team of more than 70 riders, 40 of which are employees of Rich’s. The team, sporting the name the Big Galoots Bicycle Club, has already exceeded its fundraising goal of $100,000, raising a total of more than $150,000 to date. Team captains are Bob Rich, Chairman of Rich Products Corporation and Cleveland Clinic, and Joe Scaminace, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Office of the OM Group, Inc. and Vice Chair of Cleveland Clinic.
According to the Big Galoots fundraising page, “VeloSano is more than a fundraising event. It’s more than simply a bike ride. VeloSano is a movement with the goal of bringing an entire community together to help one another. Together, our team has joined the movement to raise money for the cause. One-hundred percent of the money we raise will support lifesaving cancer research at Cleveland Clinic.
“After learning about VeloSano and its mission we knew immediately it was something the Rich’s Family wanted to support and rally behind, in line with our philanthropic efforts,” Rich said. “These strides made by Cleveland Clinic in the way cancer patients are screened, diagnosed and treated are astounding, and here at Farm Rich Products we want to help continue and build on the progress made – and ultimately, help find a cure for cancer.”
Farm Rich will also support the cause through its Axle Partner sponsorship and presence at the event’s expo, offering special premiums and free product coupons for riders.
Chaired by Stewart Kohl, Co-CEO of The Riverside Company, and Paul Dolan, Chairman an CEO of the Cleveland Indians, this year’s ride will start and finish in downtown Cleveland, and takes place over the course of two days depending on the length of the ride 12, 25, 50, 100, 179 or 207 miles. Every dollar raised goes to sustainable funding for cancer research at Cleveland Clinic, home to one of the most influential cancer research enterprises in the United States. Last year, VeloSano raised more than $1.95 million for cancer research with more than 800 cyclists from 21 states.
